ALTERATIONS
A short story by Elena Lappin
Donna Cantor (née Kantor) realised in the eleventh year of her marriage that her husband Hugh was a Russian spy, a sleeper agent, one of those highly trained ones who was a genius at blending in. The only thing she didn’t know was whether he had been activated yet, and what that would look like. Would they still have sex on Saturday afternoons, when the mask came off? Was she even asking herself the right question?
